Tiers for Rears: A General Classification of Military Logistics in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Part 2

The Classification of the Russian and Western Rears: Russia’s Structure of the World System

On March 5, 2022, the Government of the Russian Federation approved the decree [14] “List of foreign states and territories that are committing unfriendly actions towards the Russian Federation”. There were proposed three categories of the states: ‘friendly’ (52), ‘unfriendly’ (62) and ‘neutral states’ (91). Nonetheless, it would be a theoretical and empirical error to construct the model of the Russian rears only on this document; hence I decided to make a more detailed matrix through the theoretical classification of these rears. It is possible to indicate the following tiers of the Russian rears in this war:

1. Meta-Rears of Russia. The rears spread throughout the world and consisted of the countries which decided to stay away from taking the side in this war but were ready to cooperate with Russia despite the sanctions whilst continuing their cooperation with the West simultaneously. In the UN General Assembly, these nations usually abstain from voting against Russia and continue the old tradition of the Bandung Conference from 1955 of Non-Aligned States or can vote for vaguely formulated resolutions. Even though they voted in the GA in favour of political resolutions that condemned the invasion of Ukraine, most of these states didn’t join the Western sanctions against Moscow. The weakening of the West is considered by the Global South as maybe the only historical chance to gain power in the 21st century.
