What Are the A2AD (Anti-Access/Area Denial) Capabilities All About?

A2/AD stands for Anti-Access/Area Denial and has become an increasingly popular term in military circles over recent years. It’s a concept that refers to the military and technological measures being taken by land based Eurasian powers for effective prevention of unrestricted access to convenient dislocation sites and advanced American bases in Eurasia  (anti-access), and the possibility of the destruction of US assets in the Eurasian theatre of operations, primarily US naval and air forces (area-denial).
