The modern world and its order come from Europe. This is where the enlightenment and the industrial revolution were born, hence it was the Europeans who set out to colonise the world. Until almost the end of the nineteenth century, all the world powers were located in Europe and it was on the Old Continent that decisions were made that had direct significance for the entire globe. This place is especially endowed with geography.
